Testimonials - Charlie Bell

Charlie Bell moved into Mease Manor in the spring of 2009.  When you meet Charlie you immediately are drawn to his warm smile.  He is originally from Massachusetts and is a highly decorated Navy veteran.  During his career he worked with various military related companies and worked on a variety of special projects that included the Hawk and Sparrow missiles.

Charlie has been a volunteer driver for the Mease Dunedin Hospital Care Lift van service for over 13 years.  “I have always liked to drive, “ says Charlie.  “I like to help people and this keeps me busy and active.”  Charlie drives two to three days a week averaging about 20 hours a week.

Charlie enjoys many of the social activities that Mease Manor has to offer.  You can routinely find him sitting at the puzzle table trying to find those hard to place puzzle pieces.  He also calls the Monday night Bingo and attends many of the Happy Hours and other parties.

Charlie had a long-time friend who had moved to Mease Manor and had visited often.  When the time came to look further into retirement living, he knew Mease Manor was the place for him to call home.  “My house was just getting too big to manage and I also wanted to be somewhere that I knew if I needed any medical assistance it was there when I needed it,” says Charlie.

When you ask Charlie how he would describe himself to others, he modestly says, “I am just a regular guy.”
